        Barbados launched the world's first debt-for-climate-resilience operation

        Barbados has successfully completed an unprecedented debt-for climate operation to finance water and sewage projects resilient to climate change. Through support from its international funding partners, Barbados replaced outstanding, more expensive debt with more affordable financing, generating US$125 million in fiscal savings which will be used to enhance water resource management and increase water and food security.

        Expanding Clean Cooking in East Africa to strengthen communities, cut pollution and save lives: US $15 million financing from European Investment Bank for Kenya-based BURN

        Today BURN, the world’s leading clean cooking appliance manufacturer, distributor, and carbon project developer, and the European Investment Bank signed an agreement to invest $15 million from the EIB to fund the distribution of BURN’s ECOA Electric Induction cooker to households across the East African region.

        Barbados: EIB and Inter-American Development Bank approve guarantees to support climate and fiscal resilience

        The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the EIB have approved guarantees totalling $300 million to support an innovative debt-for-climate operation that will help Barbados unlock much-needed resources to invest in critical climate adaptation projects, while safeguarding other priorities such as social spending on health and education.
