Vice-President Czerwińska’s areas of oversight include financing of science, education, innovation and the digital economy, InvestEU (implementation, jointly with Vice-President Mourinho Félix who has overall responsibility for the Multiannual Financial Framework - MFF), implementation of three lines of defence (3LoD), financing operations in Croatia (constituency-related), Hungary, Poland, the Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia and Ukraine), Central Asia, China and Mongolia, and the relations with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is supporting Polpharma – the leading Polish pharmaceutical company – with a loan of up to PLN 300 million (approx. €65 million) to finance its research, development and innovation programme (RDI) until 2023. The investment will strengthen the company’s position by the development of its portfolio of new products and will also provide patients with broader access to modern medicines in several therapeutic areas, including cardiology, diabetes, ophthalmic and respiratory diseases.
The rapid changes in the market caused by the COVID-19 pandemic do not prevent firms from implementing investment plans. The largest European copper producer, Polish-based KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. (KGHM), has entered into an agreement (annex) with the European Investment Bank (EIB) for an additional loan of PLN 440 million (approximately €98 million) to finance the modernisation plan of its plants and production processes.
