    Stronger together to drive impact

    Overview

In 2026, the European Investment Bank Group marked 30 years of its Evaluation function with the EIB Group Evaluation Conference, “Stronger together to drive impact”.

Held at the EIB Headquarters in Luxembourg on 29-30 April 2026 and convened by the EIB Evaluation Division, the conference brought together around 200 evaluation users, producers and professionals from EU institutions, National Promotional Banks, International Financial Institutions and the wider evaluation community.

Day 1 explored how evaluation can make public finance more relevant, accountable and impactful. Discussions highlighted that evaluation evidence is most useful when designed for decision-making, helping institutions connect past performance with future choices.

Key themes included additionality and value added, and how public finance can demonstrate its distinct contribution as policy objectives and impact expectations evolve. Participants also explored how institutions can simplify processes and reduce reporting burdens without weakening the credibility of impact evidence.

Day 2 opened the discussion to a wider group of evaluation practitioners, with sessions on tools, methods and communication approaches that support learning and knowledge uptake.

Practitioner sessions focused on innovation in evaluation, recommendation follow-up, value added frameworks and communication as a driver of evaluation influence, with participants exchanging on artificial intelligence, geospatial data, strategic foresight and data-driven methods as tools to support learning and impact.
