Lithuania: EIB to advise on development of military base for NATO troops
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is teaming up with the Lithuanian government to support the development in Lithuania of the Rūdninkai military base, a key project to enhance North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) operations and regional security. Under an accord signed today in Vilnius, the EIB will provide advisory services to ensure that public-private partnership (PPP) agreements linked to the planned base near the border with Belarus meet market standards and follow best practices.

La Banque européenne d’investissement (BEI) et les banques commerciales locales SEB et Luminor vont prêter ensemble 62 millions d’euros à Sunly, la société estonienne productrice d’énergie de sources renouvelables, pour la construction et l’exploitation d’un parc solaire dans le pays, ce qui aura pour effet d’accélérer la transition écologique et l’indépendance des pays baltes en matière d’approvisionnement en électricité. Le concours de la BEI s’élève à 31 millions d’euros, les 31 millions restants étant mobilisés par SEB et Luminor.
Lithuanian firms invest strongly in building up climate change resilience, EIB Investment Survey shows
A large majority of Lithuanian firms have taken actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and tackle the impact of adverse weather events, according to the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group Investment Survey country results released today. The figure is 8 percentage points higher than the EU average. Lithuanian firms are also ahead of EU peers when it comes to innovation, leading with 10 percentage points above the EU average, the survey shows.
