Sonia Hidalgo Bodega was appointed Deputy Director General of the Chief Financial Controller Directorate (CFC) as of 1 May 2025.

In addition to her new role, she continues to lead the Corporate Real Estate Department (CRE) within CFC, a position she has held since January 2019. As Director of Corporate Real Estate and together with the CRE team, Sonia is championing and implementing the EIB Group Real Estate strategy and the Corporate Climate Programme, resulting in a best-in-class work environment (real estate, workplace and facilities services) focused on three key pillars: people, planet and performance.

Sonia joined the EIB Group in March 2009 as a Head of Division of Technical Support and Architecture within the Information Technology Department (IT). In January 2014 she was appointed as Head of Division of the IT Management Office, delivering transversal functions necessary to manage overall IT strategy, architecture and the programme portfolio. In November 2016 Sonia was appointed as Director of the IT Transversal Services Department, encompassing IT infrastructure, integration systems and transversal functions until January 2019, when she moved to Corporate Real Estate.

Before her tenure at the EIB Group, Sonia held technical and managerial roles at several industry household names like T-Mobile, Orange, Deutsche Bank, Nike and Philips, leading teams, managing services and driving innovation across the full information technology spectrum.

Sonia holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Alcalá de Henares and a post-graduate master’s degree in Information Technology Management from the University of Delft.
