This week has been about working together to strengthen Europe's competitiveness and security. Supporting global health is at the core of it, and that's why the European Investment Bank Group has renewed our partnership with the Vaccine Alliance for the immunisation of millions of children around the world and the development of vaccine production facilities in Africa.

With the Gates Foundation and the European Commission, we're also working to improve access to medicines around the world.

Together with Executive Vice-President Ribera, we held a roundtable with Europe's clean tech sector to launch the first wave of TechEU financial instruments to support Europe's clean tech leadership. This is about energy grids, wind power manufacturers, power purchase agreements to stabilise energy prices and financing for disruptive innovators.

The president of the EIB Group Nadia Calviño had very productive meetings with Commissioners Dombrovskis and Serafin and Executive Vice-President Séjourné on Europe's competitiveness and our security and defence capabilities, as well as the upcoming EU budget proposal and simplification. These were also central themes at the European Council EU leaders meeting this week.

New projects announced this week include packaging solutions in Sweden that avoid single use plastics, helicopters for the Italian army, reinforcing cyber security in France and green infrastructure in Poland.

Outside the EU, in Burundi, a new hydropower plant is opening and in Kenya, improved energy efficiency in Nairobi's main hospital with EIB support.

See you next week.
