The EIB supports with €1.6 billion the strategic Bay of Biscay electricity interconnection between Spain and France. It is a landmark project for the European power system that will boost the interconnection capacity between the Iberian Peninsula and rest of continental Europe.
The initiative will increase the exchange capacity from 2 800 to 5 000 megawatts (MW), improving reliability of power supply among France, Spain and Portugal with the rest of Europe.
