On March 7, 2018, the European Commission (EC) adopted a Green Finance Action Plan that follows most of the High Level Expert Group on Sustainable Finance (HLEG) recommendations, including the sustainability taxonomy. EIB orchestrated the delivery of a proposal for classification in the field of climate change mitigation (appendix III of HLEG’s report’s Annex III-enclosed). This proposal benefitted from the experience gained in the partnership with China Green Finance Committee for the creation of a common language in green finance (Joint White Paper published in November 2017).
EIB’s proposed classification for climate change mitigation is standard-neutral.
