The President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, welcomed on June 2nd the President of the EIB, Werner Hoyer, and Vice President Dario Scannapieco. The meeting focused on the general economic situation both in Europe and in Italy, the role of the EIB in the recovery plan and the EIB lending activity in Italy. Since the beginning of 2014 the EIB has financed projects totalling some EUR 5 bn, especially concentrated on SMEs, and in projects aimed at tackling youth unemployment.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have deepened their long-standing partnership by signing a Mutual Reliance Agreement on environmental and social aspects. The agreement will make it easier to finance projects together and get them off the ground more quickly in common countries of operation. It will also reduce red tape for our our clients.
The European Investment Bank (EIB)'s Water Sector Fund has received a significant boost from the Dutch government with a €31 million contribution, doubling the fund's size.
