Description
The project consists of the construction of two tramway lines:
- Favaro-Mestre-Venice, 14 km length.
- Mestre - Marghera, 6 km length.
It includes a depot in Favaro and the acquisition of rolling stock.
Objectifs
The project aims at improving the quality of the public transport system and reducing traffic congestion in the Venice metropolitan area.

Aspects environnementaux
During the operational phase the project is expected to reduce the environmental pollution and noise levels caused by cars and buses. To address potential environmental aspects during the construction phase, an EIA has been conducted and will be checked during appraisal.
Passation des marchés
The Promoter has tendered the contracts for the implementation of the project in accordance with the relevant EU procurement legislation, with parallel publication of tender notices in the EC Official Journal, as and where appropriate.
