Portugal: EIB will finance MC with a €100 million loan to boost the sustainability of its retail stores
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a €100 million loan with MC with 12-year tenor to bolster sustainability across approximately 400 retail stores in Portugal. The operation will contribute to optimise energy efficiency and reduce the overall carbon footprint of MC’s extensive retail network in the country.

Guimarães hat auf der Eröffnungsfeier zur diesjährigen „Grünen Hauptstadt Europas“ eine Beratungsvereinbarung mit der Europäischen Investitionsbank (EIB) unterzeichnet. Damit unterstützt die EIB die nordportugiesische Stadt beim Übergang zur Klimaneutralität. Finanziert wird die Beratung von der Europäischen Kommission. Bei der Unterzeichnung anwesend waren Ricardo Araújo, Bürgermeister von Guimarães, João Fonseca, Leiter des Büros der EIB-Gruppe in Portugal, sowie Patrick Child, stellvertretender Generaldirektor der Generaldirektion Umwelt der Europäischen Kommission.
EIB Investment Survey shows that Portuguese firms continue to show strong investment intentions and remain more optimistic about their sector’s business outlook than the EU average
The most recent European Investment Bank Group (EIB Group) Investment Survey (EIBIS) shows that Portuguese firms continue to show strong investment intentions and remain more optimistic about their sector’s business prospects than the EU average. 16% of Portuguese firms expect to increase rather than decrease investment in 2025, which is one of the highest rates in the European Union and significantly above the EU average of 4%.
