The President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, welcomed on June 2nd the President of the EIB, Werner Hoyer, and Vice President Dario Scannapieco. The meeting focused on the general economic situation both in Europe and in Italy, the role of the EIB in the recovery plan and the EIB lending activity in Italy. Since the beginning of 2014 the EIB has financed projects totalling some EUR 5 bn, especially concentrated on SMEs, and in projects aimed at tackling youth unemployment.
The EIB President Werner Hoyer, accompanied by Vice president Dario Scannapieco, met the President of the Republic of Italy Giorgio Napolitano and the Italian Prime minister Mario Monti during an official visit to Rome on Monday. President Hoyer also presented EIB results for 2011 in Italy during a press conference in EIB Rome’s office.
Giovanni Tria, Italy’s Minister of Finance and the Economy, met with the President of the EIB, Werner Hoyer, and EIB Vice-President Dario Scannapieco, at the EIB’s Luxembourg headquarters earlier today.
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved financing of up to €1.4 billion for the Italian Republic for the reconstruction and safety of buildings and infrastructure located in the Campi Flegrei (Phlegraean Fields) area, which has been affected by seismic events since May 2024. The project agreement for the EIB’s full approval was signed today in Rome by Senator Nello Musumeci, Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies, and EIB Vice-President Gelsomina Vigliotti. The signature of the first tranche of the financing agreement with the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), which will cover the allocations planned for 2025 and 2026 and part of 2027, is expected by the end of the year.
