Kyriacos Kakouris, vice-president of the European Investment Bank (EIB), took part in the first EU-Central Asia summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan on 3 to 4 April. The summit was an opportunity for the European Union to strengthen ties with Central Asia at a time when cooperation has become of increased strategic importance. During the summit, the EIB Group renewed its commitment to expand strategic investments in sustainable projects in Central Asia.
