Beschreibung

The operation consists of a synthetic securitisation guarantee on an existing portfolio of assets, which aims to stimulate new eligible lending to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-caps.

Additionality and Impact

Operation aims to help mitigate market failure of SME and Mid-Caps' insufficient access to long term funding for their investments at low financing costs.

 

By addressing these market gaps, which are more acute in Romania compared to EU average, project in particular supports strengthening of EU's economic, social and territorial cohesion (a large majority of the allocations are expected to be implemented in cohesion regions) and it also mitigates gap in financing for small to mid-size Climate Action & Environmental Sustainability projects with a 20% green window.

Furthermore, synthetic securitisation guarantee is a new & innovative capital management tool in the Romanian market. EIB's participation will create a signalling effect to other IFIs and hence contribute to the development of the capital market in the country.

 

Finally, the availability of Green Gateway advisory support package would contribute to the capacity building at the Intermediary.

Ziele

The aim is to enable the financial intermediary to provide new loans to eligible beneficiaries. About 20% of the new portfolio allocations will be specifically dedicated to Climate Action & Environmental Sustainability.
