Beschreibung
The project comprises the construction of a new campus to house a leading Austrian institute of basic research in the town of Klosterneuburg, located about 20 km North East of Vienna centre. It is foreseen to supplement the listed buildings of a former clinic with new facilities to create a state of the art national Institute of Science and Technology in Austria.
Ziele
The project will host the Institute of Science and Technology and promote high level basic research in the EU. Moreover, the Institute will include a Graduate School, training Ph.D. students and hosting postdoctoral fellows. The emphasis will be on basic research in fields of science and technology such as the Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and multi-disciplinary areas.

Umweltaspekte
Universities and public research institutes are not specifically mentioned in the EIA Directive on Environmental Impact Assessment, though the project is covered by Annex II of the Directive in relation to urban development. The Bank’s services will verify during appraisal the EIA screening decision of the Competent Authority.
Auftragsvergabe
The Bank will require the promoter to ensure that all relevant contracts for the implementation of the project have been or shall be tendered in accordance with the relevant EU procurement legislation. The detailed procurement issues will be studied during appraisal.
