EIB Forum 2007, Ljubljana

On Thursday 27th and Friday 28th September 2007, the European Investment Bank will hold its annual Forum in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The topic "Investing in energy, mastering climate change" addresses a key issue - Europe's new energy policy and diversification of energy supply.

Who should attend?

Building on the great success of previous Forums, this conference will bring together representatives from government and political circles, business sector, financial institutions, as well as the international media, to create an interactive forum for discussion and debate on these pertinent issues.

The conference will tackle concerns on the supply side, examining the full spectrum of energy sources from fossil and nuclear to renewable energy. Special attention will be paid to renewables and their economic viability, as well as energy efficiency. The Forum will then take a look on the consumer side, featuring expert speakers from world players such as Arcelor Mittal, Toyota, BASF and Philips. The event also aims to identify the specific measures required to increase the financial flows from public and private sources in order to make the move to a lower carbon economy.

Speakers

The Forum will be opened by Andrej Bajuk, Minister of Finance, Slovenia. Other confirmed speakers include EU Commissioners Andris Piebalgs, expert speakers from the World Economic Forum, the International Energy Agency, WWF, prominent academics and leading representatives of the European business and banking world.
