EIB lending to strengthen growth and innovation across Europe

At the annual meeting of the EIB’s Board of Governors, the EU’s 28 finance ministers, President Hoyer highlighted the importance of continued increased lending for SMEs, innovation, infrastructure and climate action.
He confirmed that he expected lending by the EIB, the world’s largest multilateral lending institution, to be similar over the next two years to the EUR 72 billion provided for long-term investment in 2013.

First EIB financing operation for French universities: EUR 127m loan to modernise the campuses of Aix-Marseille University (AMU)

This contract paves the way for the EIB's first loan to a French university under the agreement concluded in February 2014 between the EIB and the French Government for financing "Operation Campus".

Under this agreement, the EIB has devoted EUR 1.3bn to projects undertaken by 12 French universities.

EIB lends EUR 150 million to Jazztel for investment in its fibre optic network

The EIB and Jazz Telecom SA signed, in Madrid a EUR 150 million loan agreement for financing the company’s fibre-to-the-home network.

This project will consist of rolling out a fibre optic network from the backbone infrastructure to three million homes. Investments financed by this loan will be located in Spain, with 25% in convergence regions.
