EIB financing* in Luxembourg came to a total of EUR 20 million in 2017.

The total investment of the EIB Group (the European Investment Bank and the European Investment Fund) in Luxembourg in 2017 was EUR 58 million.

EIB project impact in Luxembourg

Luxembourg and the EIB pioneers on the implementation of the Paris Agreement

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the EIB launched the Luxembourg-EIB Climate Finance Platform, aiming to mobilise investments for projects with a strong impact in the fight against climate change. It is the first time an EU Member State enters into such a partnership for innovative climate finance with the EIB. The platform establishes further Luxembourg as a green financial centre.


Upgrading education facilities

The EIB has provided EUR 300 million to the Luxembourg Government to finance education facilities. This joint financial operation will cover the costs of building, equipping and refurbishing six new and ten existing schools and the new Luxembourg National Library, to be located at Bricherhaff on the Kirchberg Plateau. The construction works are scheduled for completion in 2020.




European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) in Luxembourg

The European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) is an initiative to help overcome the current investment gap in the EU. It aims to mobilise EUR 500 billion by 2020.

Jointly launched by the EIB Group and the European Commission, it is the central pillar of the Investment Plan for Europe, aiming to boost jobs and GDP, improving the lives of people across Luxembourg.

EIB Investment Survey 2017 - Luxembourg

The annual EIB Group Survey on Investment and Investment Finance (EIBIS) is an EU-wide survey of some 12 300 firms that gathers information on investment activities by both SMEs and larger corporates, their financing requirements and the difficulties they face.
