Mr Einars Repše has been appointed Minister of Finance as of 12 March 2009 and thus also serves as EIB Governor for the Republic of Latvia, succeeding Mr Atis Slakteris.

Born on 9 December 1961, Mr Einars Repše graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the University of Latvia in 1986.

He served previously as Minister of Defence from 2004 to 2005 and as Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004. Between 1991 and 2001, he was President of the Bank of Latvia.
