By letter dated 26 January 2013, the Republic of Poland, by common accord with the Republic of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Cyprus, the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of Malta, the Republic of Slovenia and the Slovak Republic, nominated Mr Michal Baj (Director of the International Department in the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Poland) for appointment as Alternate Member of the Board of Directors of the European Investment Bank to succeed Mr Zdenek Pagáč, who had tendered his resignation.

By letter dated 1 February 2013, the Board of Governors was invited to vote on the proposed appointment.

The decision to appoint Mr Michal Baj was taken on 18 February 2013, the date on which the requisite majority of Governors' votes was reached.

The term of office of Mr Michal Baj will expire in 2013 at the end of the day either of the Annual Meeting or of the approval of the financial statements for the 2012 financial year, whichever is later.
