Economic and Financial Studies (EFS) supports the Bank's strategic decision-making through targeted research in economics and finance. EFS also participates in international fora and maintains liaison with counterparts in other international organisations.

The aim of the 2005 EIB Conference on Economics and Finance is to analyse the involvement of the private sector in the provision and financing of public infrastructure and draws lessons from the experience thus far in the enlarged EU.
