Italy: EIB and Eni sign €500 million in financing for new biorefinery in Sannazzaro de’ Burgondi
Today the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Eni signed a 15-year loan for €500 million to convert selected units of Eni’s Sannazzaro de’ Burgondi refinery, located in the Italian province of Pavia, into a biorefinery. The agreement was signed by EIB Vice-President Gelsomina Vigliotti and Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi.
Italy: Florence and EIB join forces for new affordable housing plan
The Municipality of Florence and the European Investment Bank (EIB) are strengthening their cooperation to address the growing challenge of access to housing. With funding from the InvestEU Advisory Hub, EIB Advisory experts will provide technical assistance for the definition of the new municipal affordable housing plan, with the goal of increasing the supply of rental homes for families that are not eligible for public housing and are underserved by the private market. Florence, as a member of the European Alliance of Cities for Housing, together with Barcelona, Athens, Rome, Dublin and Warsaw among others, took part in the delegation invited to the EIB headquarters, where the city had the opportunity to initiate an exchange that now takes shape in a unique partnership.
Italy: EIB provides €200 million to A2A for the development of electricity grids in the province of Milan
The development and modernisation of electricity distribution grids in Lombardy – in line with national and European decarbonisation targets – are the key objectives behind a €200 million loan that the European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted to A2A, one of Italy’s leading multi-utility companies. The loan will support the reinforcement, resilience and increased capacity of electricity infrastructure in the province of Milan, an area characterised by high load density and growing demand for electrification.
