Direct equity investments in financial intermediaries
Equity and debt investments in MIVs that in turn provide debt and/or equity to financial institutions.
The EIB group provides technical assistance via grants to enhance the development impact of its projects and strengthen the capacity of its financial counterparties and final beneficiaries. Funds are intended mainly to address weaknesses in:
Financial and social performance
Human resource management
Management of information systems and technology
Through the development of tailored capacity-building programmes and financial education trainings.
The grants can also be used to sponsor feasibility and market studies to support individual projects.
