Mr Mihály Varga took office as Minister for National Economy of Hungary on 8 March 2013, succeeding Mr György Matolcsy. Mr Varga also becomes EIB Governor for Hungary.
From 2010 to 2012, Mr Varga held the position of Minister of State for the Prime Minister’s Office.
He had served as Minister of Finance from 2001 to 2002 and from 1998 to 2000 he was Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance.
Mr Varga has also served as a member of the Parliament’s Budget, Fiscal and Finance Committee and been a member of several Budget, Finance and Audit Committees. Mr Varga, born in Karcag in 1965, holds a degree in Economics from Budapest University.
