The European Investment Bank will be a Conference Supporter of the 12th edition of the Sanabel Conference, with the aim to strengthen its pipeline in the Arab countries in the context of EIB’s economic resilience initiative. The conference will provide a platform for all concerned stakeholders to network and share experiences, progress towards objectives and take a closer look at global trends and regional activities seeking to achieve financial inclusion.

The Sanabel Conference is organised every year since 2003 by Sanabel, the microfinance network of Arab countries, gathering 90 members. Since its creation in 2002, the Sanabel network has grown significantly and is now considered as the major microfinance network in the region. More than 350 participants are expected to attend the 2016 edition of the conference.

The broad theme this year will focus on “Microfinance experience, regional progress and evolving global trends”, with four main tracks including: “Evolving regulatory landscape in the Arab countries: what works and what still needs to be done?”, “Alternative approaches to the provision of financial services“, “Niche markets and how can we reach out to them” and “Mapping of the region: case studies from member countries”. The conference will also host the 2016 Sanabel Financial Inclusion Excellence Award and the 2016 Sanabel Transparency Award.
