The EIB has observer status at COP 19, the annual meeting of global leaders and climate action specialists. This year the conference will be held in Warsaw, Poland from 11 to 22 November.

Major negotiation topics will focus on effective implementation of previous COP decisions, the Green Climate Fund and making progress on the way to a new global agreement at COP21. As the EU Bank, the EIB supports the EU goal of low-carbon and climate-resilient growth in Europe as well as in developing and emerging countries.

Our delegation to COP 19 consists of high-level experts and officials, including Vice-President Jonathan Taylor, responsible for Climate Change and Environment.

The Bank will also share its know-how and expertise in a number of panel discussions and in cooperation with different organisations. This year, the EIB has partnered with UNEP Climate Action exploring ‘partnerships that make a difference’ and with the World Climate Summit to discuss how public and private funding can be unlocked for climate mitigation and adaptation. We will also speak at the Caring for Climate Business Forum, namely the high-level business meeting on corporate climate leadership that brings together senior business executives, Ministers and Heads of government delegations.

In addition, we will participate in a number of side events in the EU Pavilion and in the UNFCCC area where the delegates can meet us at our information stand.
