External Energy Security and Economic Development
In line with EU’s priorities, the EIB's external energy activities focus on the following:
- Support the objective of creating a pan-European Energy Community with Neighbour countries. This objective is largely covered through Trans-European Network Energy (TEN-E) projects
- Support the EU objective of enhancing security of energy supply in the EU
- Develop a pipeline of projects in these countries, which support the fight against climate change. Projects in this sense are in particular in the energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors
- Improve access of Neighbour and Partner countries' population, in particular the poorest segments of it, to modern energy sources
