    Description

    The project relates to the design and roll-out of a publicly owned passive fibre broadband network PIN ("Public initiative network" or "Réseau d'Initiative Publique" or "RIP") in the Aisne department, France.

    Objectives

    The objective of the project is to deploy a fibre to the home (FTTH) network and to provide connectivity to public sites in areas not covered by commercial operators.

    Environmental aspects

    Investments in fixed telecommunications projects (mainly civil works for fibre rollout) do not fall under Directive 2014/52/EU amending the EIA Directive 2011/92/EU. The related works have limited environmental effects, apart from disturbance during civil work construction, which can be mitigated by appropriate measures.

    Procurement

    The Bank will require the promoter to ensure that contracts for the implementation of the project have been/will be tendered in accordance with the relevant applicable EU procurement legislation.
