Description
Reconstruction and completion of the sewerage system in Brno.
Objectives
The Project comprises measures to improve the collection of waste water and storm water in the City of Brno in the Czech Republic. These investments are part of the promoter's investment programme for the years 2011-2015, which is driven by the need to renew and extend the existing asset base, to raise efficiency of the infrastructure and service to customers, as well to comply with EU Directives.

Environmental aspects
The investments included within the project will serve to meet the 2015 deadline for the Czech Republic set out in the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive (91/271/EEC), which is in line with the objectives of the EU Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC). The project falls under the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Directive 2011/92/EU. It was screened out by the competent authority and no EIA is required.
Procurement
The project falls under EU procurement legislation Directive 2004/18/EC for public works, supplies and services respectively as well as Directive 2004/17/EC. The Bank will require the promoter to ensure that the investment to be financed will comply with EU procurement rules.
