Environmental aspects
The project will have a positive impact on the environment, improving water quality throughout the country, as required by the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC). It will improve the service and quality of water supplied and will reduce the pollution caused by effluents discharged. It will also reduce floods-related risks to populations. Project impacts and related mitigation measures (if required) as well as regulatory requirements (EIA, SEA, Natura 2000 assessments) will be assessed during appraisal.
Procurement
The Bank will require the Promoter to ensure that contracts for the implementation of the project have been/shall be tendered in accordance with the relevant applicable EU procurement legislation (Dir 2004/18/EC or 2004/17/EC and Dir. 2007/66/EC), with publication of tender notices in the EU Official Journal, as and where appropriate.
