The project concerns: (i) the construction and the ramp-up of a manufacturing plant for the production of combustion engine and propulsion systems components, (ii) the creation of a local R&D centre and (iii) R&D activities aimed at developing mechanical components and electronic components for motor control and automation system.
The project will be located in a convergence area stricto sensu with high unemployment rate and is expected to create about 220 permanent jobs in manufacturing and R&D together. The project, if successful, will support the promoters strategy to develop and manufacture new and better performing components for engines (static generators and off-highway applications) with limited emission levels, reduced fuel consumption and higher reliability. The project is also expected to benefit from close cooperation with local technical universities, thus enhancing the knowledge exchange in the area.

Environmental aspectsManufacture and assembly of motor vehicles and manufacture of motor-vehicle engines fall under Annex II of the Directive 2011/92/EU. The promoter has informed the Bank that an EIA has been requested for the project by the local competent authorities. The Banks services will verify during the due diligence all the environmental details and in particular the status of the EIA process.
Procurement is expected to be in line with EIB guidelines for private sector projects. The Banks services will verify details during the projects due diligence.
