Capacity expansion and modernisation of the existing mid-sized ethylene plant in Aliaga (near Izmir).
The project will add local value to the diversification of Turkeys industrial base while reducing import dependency.It should help to keep prices down on ethylene derived products which in turn should support the domestic supply to local downstream industrial activities. It can be expected that an increased consumer surplus would be among the socio-economic contributions of the project through lower prices based on an advantageous infrastructure. Local employment will further be safeguarded and indirect employment created. Employment will further be created during the 2 years implementation period.

Environmental aspectsAn equivalent project in the EU would fall under Annex II of EU Directive 2011/92. Preliminary EIA studies have been prepared and public consultations have been held. The scope and format have been defined in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Planning and the EIA completion is expected before mid-year. The environmental and social details and issues will be established during appraisal.
The Bank will require the Promoter to ensure that any procurement procedures are done in accordance with the Banks Guide to Procurement
