Environmental aspectsA project of this type would normally be classified under Annex II of the EU Directive 85/337/EC as amended by Directives 97/11/EC and 2003/35/EC, meaning that the Competent Authority decides whether a formal EIA is required or not. The environmental status of the project and any documentation or pre-existing environmental consents will be further assessed during project appraisal.
The Non-Technical Summary below is taken from the Environmental Impact Study carried out by the Promoter in 2002 and based on the Airport Development Plan of that same year. Financing of the capacity related elements of the current project is conditional on receiving updated environmental clearance from the Competent Authority. This is to be based on a new Airport Development Plan and an assessment of impacts to a level of traffic at least equivalent to the capacity potential of the airport after project completion. A new Non-technical Summary will be produced as part of that update and will be published when available.
The Promoter is subject to EU Procurement Directive 2004/17/EC and follows the relevant national legislation, which incorporates that directive. The Promoter’s procurement plan will be reviewed during appraisal.
