    Objectives

    The project involves the construction and upgrading of roads and associated infrastructure in three main schemes in Warsaw, Poland, namely the construction of Nowolazurowa street, the interchange on Siekierkowska Route as well as capacity extension and modernisation of Marsa street. The project is to be allocated under Warsaw Municipal Infrastructure III framework loan.

    The selected investments will largely target European interest schemes included in the city’s medium term investment programme and are expected to contribute to the development strategy of the City of Warsaw. The project is eligible under article 267 points (a) of the EC Treaty and internally classified under the Convergence objective.

    Environmental aspects
    Procurement

    The schemes are expected to fall under annex II of the EIA Directive 85/337/EEC as amended by Directives 97/11/EEC and 2003/35/EC and will be screened by the Competent Authority. In addition the project has the potential to impact Natura 2000 sites and so compliance with the Habitats (92/43/EEC) and Birds Directive (79/409/EEC) would be assessed and where applicable, full EIA's and signed declarations would be required in keeping with the legislation.

    The construction works and associated supervision are to be procured by the Promoter in accordance with EU (Directive 2004/18/EC) and national regulations . During appraisal compliance with these procedures will be reviewed.
