    Objectives

    The project consists of the modernisation of the Western Part of Prague Main Railway Station including the full reconstruction of platforms I to IV, three underpasses, service facilities for passengers, new baggage tunnel, interlocking adjustments and newly established information systems for passengers.

    The project improves reliability and safety of railway operations and facilitates the use of trains for persons with reduced mobility.

    Procurement

    The project falls under Annex II of Directive 97/11/EC as amended by Directive 2003/35/EC. The EIA process covered the reconstruction or modernisation of several components of the Praha railway system, not just this phase, and was executed in accordance with the applicable legislation – Act 100/2001 Coll. on the Environmental Impact Assessment.

    EU procurement directives (2004/17/EC, 2004/18/EC) have been transposed into Czech legislation by Act No. 137/2006 Coll. The contract notices for the international open tender were published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). The main contract was published in the OJEU under reference number 2007/S 213-0258856 on 5.9.2007. The procurement process is accountable under the Cohesion Funds regulations and is acceptable to the Bank.
