    Description
    Objectives

The project concerns the purchase of TER regional express trains.

To make public rail transport more competitive and attractive in the Picardy region.

    Environmental aspects
    Procurement

The project will contribute to enhancing the attractiveness of rail in comparison with road transport. This will result in a reduction in the number of journeys undertaken by private car and limit the harmful effects associated with this mode of transport (accidents, local atmospheric pollution and noise).

The Picardy Region, like other Regions in France that have submitted projects to the EIB as a result of the regionalisation of rail transport, enters into agreements with SNCF to purchase the TER trains selected by the latter following European calls for tender.
