The project comprises the development, construction, commissioning and operation of an onshore wind farm in the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico.
Contributing to i) support of the EU presence in Latin America through foreign direct investment and ii) support environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation.
Up to EUR 75 million.
Total costEUR 150 million.
Environmental aspectsIf located in EU, the project would fall under Annex II of the EIA-Directive. Thus the need for an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) including public consultation would have to be determined by the national competent authority based on a case-by-case examination or on criteria pre-defined by the authority. The promoter has carried out an EIA study and received the environmental authorisation based on that study. The details of EIA, the requirements of Mexican regulations, their compliance to the Bank’s requirements, including the results of avifauna studies, public participation and socioeconomic assessment, will be examined during the appraisal.
The procurement of the project has been concluded, including procurement procedures applicable for private sector operation. Details of procurement procedures and compliante to the Guide for Procurement will be verified during appraisal.
