- Priority Trans European Transport Network (TEN-T) Project No. 17, section between Vienna and St.Pölten.
The project relates to the construction of two additional tracks on the Priority TEN mainline railway between Vienna and St. Pölten (Westbahn). The total length of this four-track railway line section is 44km, including the 13km Wienerwaldtunnel and additional 6 shorter tunnels.
The project will add capacity, operational flexibility and thus reliability, allow faster train operation and improve comfort.

Environmental aspectsThe project would fall under Annex I of EU Directive 97/11/CE. Compliance with the respective requirements will be verified during appraisal.
