Environmental aspects
The project falls under Annex II of Directive 97/11/EC, which leaves the decision for a full environmental impact assessment to the member state concerned. Greek environmental authorities required a full assessment, which concluded that none of the project's components are located at sites of historic interest or areas of nature conservation, and that impacts resulting from construction and operation will stay within acceptable limits.
The project falls under the Directive 93/38/EC and its amendment 98/4/EC. The promoter has confirmed compliance with the respective requirements.
