Conference: EIB 20 years in Portugal – perspectives for the future

Lisbon

16/03/2007

Since 1986, the EIB has been channelling long-term funds into Portugal supporting investment in all key economic sectors.

Much has been achieved over the past 20 years and the Portugal of today is a more competitive and resourceful economy than ever before. Nonetheless, substantial investment and long term planning are still required to maintain the pace of economic progress, gradually moving the country towards a knowledge-based and even more innovative economy.

The EIB event will open by demonstrating the long-term economic benefits of infrastructure investment, one of the core sectors of the Bank's activity. The second part of the programme will offer participants a platform on which to explore the needs and opportunities for investment in research, development and innovation, leading the country's economy into the 21st century.

The conference will be held in Portuguese and English, with simultaneous interpretation available throughout the conference.

Registration is free and provides access to both plenary sessions.
