In Bilbao, budding interior designer Elisabete Azkoaga has been able to turn her dream of opening up her design ideas to a wider public thanks to the help of a EUR 15 000 loan from EIB partner bank, Microbank. After two years of working hard from home, Elisabete wanted to expand her business but lacked the necessary finance.

2 500? Bushra al-Obaidi made a new life. Struggling to put food on the table for her family, she took a loan from the Microfund for Women and created a thriving handicraft shop in the centre of Amman, the Jordanian capital. “I like having independence,” she says.
On the outskirts of Nakuru, Kenya, Isahia Alilubun checks his mobile phone. “We have received money through a simple text message,” he says. There was no need to go to the bank, something of a trek for him--and a trek not guaranteed to get him what he needs.
