Construction of an 855 Km (including by-passes and other links) high-speed rail line.
The project is a key component of the Madrid-Barcelona-Perpignan-Montepellier TGV Sud, one of the priority TENs identified by the Essen European Council. It will also connect Spain's two largest cities and economic centres through a high-speed transport system adapted to high levels of demand along one of the more congested routes in Europe.

Construction of 91 km of a new 2x2 of motorway in Central Poland between Strykow in the outskirts of Lodz and Konotopa in the outskirts of Warsaw on a new alignment.
The project is a part of the priority TENs road network, linking the capital of Poland with the Western border.
Transport
The project falls under Annex I of EIA Directive 85/337/EEC, as amended by Directives 97/11/EC and 2003/35/EC and 92/42/EEC Habitats Directive. The EIA process is acceptable and can be considered complete for the whole project.

scaled up its TENs lending.

The need to provide freedom of movement of goods, persons, energy... Networks (TENs)
remains a key objective for the European Investment Bank (EIB), alongside
other lending priorities, such as reinforcing economic and social cohesion
in the EU, supporting EU energy... and Accession Countries. From the
inception of the policy in 1993 to Decem-

Between 1993 and 2005, the EIB lent EUR 63 billion in support of transport TENs - chiefly rail, road and motorway infrastructure but also port and airport projects - to underpin the construction of the TENs and their access networks.

-European Networks (TENs) and other large infrastructure investment, by developing aspects of the EIB's TENs Special Window, including extra-long grace periods and maturities, special tailor-made financing packages, earlier involvement in project preparation, and strengthening support for public-private partnership initiatives. The EIB is already a major financier of TENs investment - ECU 6 to 7 billion p.a. over the last three years. As a start, the Bank is currently examining the possibility of accelerating and increasing the financing of TENs investment in Belgium, Germany and Italy
