The European Investment Bank in Croatia and in the Western Balkans

The EIB has a long standing presence in the Western Balkans and Croatia, where it started its loan operations in 1977. In the last ten years, it has become the largest international financier in the region, with cumulated loans signed of close to EUR 8bn supporting all major infrastructure sectors (transport, energy, health and education, water and sanitation) as well as small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), industry, services and local authorities.
