Toomas Tõniste, new Governor for Estonia

On 12 June 2017, Mr Toomas Tõniste was appointed as Minister of Finance. He also becomes EIB Governor for the Republic of Estonia, succeeding Mr Sester.
Before his appointment in the Government, Mr Tõniste was, from 2016 to 2017, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of EVR Cargo.
From 2008 to 2011, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of the State Forest Management Centre and between 2007 and 2015, a member of the 11th and 12th Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia). He also served as Chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee of Riigikogu.
From 2002 to 2003, he was a member of Tallinn City Council and the Chairman of Viimsi Rural Municipality Council. From 2006 to 2007, he was a member of Tallinn City Council and Chairman of the Pro Patria group on the City Council.
Since 2005, Mr Tõniste has been Chairman of the Board of OÜ Laste Maailm.He has also been a Member of the Board of OÜ Breting since 1996, and a member of the Board of AS LTT since 1993.
Mr Tõniste graduated from Tallinn University, specialising in physical education.
