Following Croatia’s accession to the European Union on 1st July 2013, Mr Slavko LINIĆ has become EIB Governor for the Government of the Republic of Croatia.

Born on 19 September 1949 in Grobnik, Mr Linić graduated from the Faculty of Economics, University of Rijeka, in 1972. He has been Minister of Finance since December 2011.

He was the Mayor of Rijeka, the third largest city in Croatia and principal seaport, from 1990 to 2000.

From 2000 to 2003, he served as Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia.

In 1997 he was elected to the Croatian Parliament and has been a member of many committees – the Tourism Committee, the Committee for Maritime Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications and the Physical Planning and Development Committee.

Before starting his political career, Mr Linić worked as a Finance/accounting manager with Rijeka Oil Refinery (1979-1990).
