Following recent parliamentary elections in Sweden, Ms Magdalena Andersson was appointed Minister for Finance. She also becomes EIB Governor for Sweden.

Before her appointment, Ms Andersson was Economic Policy Spokesperson for the Swedish Social Democratic Party.

Previously, she worked as Deputy Director-General within the Swedish Tax Agency from 2009 to 2012.

Ms Andersson also served as State Secretary within the Ministry of Finance from 2004 to 2006.

From 1996 to 2004, she held various positions at the Prime Minister’s Office, including Director of Planning and Political Advisor.

In 1994, she worked as a teacher at the Stockholm School of Economics.

Ms Andersson holds a B.SC. in Business Administration and Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics. She also studied at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna and Harvard University, USA.
