Luís Campos e Cunha, new governor for Portugal

Following the Portuguese elections, Professor Luís Manuel Moreira Campos e Cunha has been appointed Minister of Finance. He thus succeeds Mr. Antonio Bagao Felix as Governor of the Bank.

Prof. Luís Campos e Cunha, 51 years old, graduated in Economics from the Catholic University of Portugal in 1977. He obtained a Masters degree in Finance at the Columbia University in New York in 1985, with a thesis on international economics.

He is Director of the Faculdade de Economia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa and has also been a professor at the Catholic University.

He was Vice-Governor of the Banco de Portugal from 1996 to 2002.
