Pierluigi Ciocca

Pierluigi CioccaDeputy Director General of the Bank of Italy

Mr Ciocca holds a degree in Law from the University of Rome. Following his postgraduate studies at the Universities of Rome, Turin and Oxford he started his professional career as an Economist at the Research Department of the Bank of Italy.

From 1992 to 1994, he held the position of Assistant Central Manager at the Bank of Italy and headed the Bank’s Refinancing and Clearing Department. In 1984, he became Member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Foreign Exchange Office. Mr Ciocca moved on in 1985 to become Central Manager for Central Bank operations, responsible inter alia for the Foreign Department and the Money and Financial Markets Department. He took up his position as Central Manager for Economic Research in 1988.

Pierluigi Ciocca was appointed to his present position in 1995. He is a Member of the Italian Economics Association and the author of numerous publications on economic and financial issues.

Mr Ciocca was born in Pescara (Italy) in 1941.
