The European Investment Bank and the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities, in collaboration with ASCAME (Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry), are very pleased to announce that the 11th FEMIP Conference will be held at the Parc Chanot (Palais des Congrès et des Expositions) in Marseille on Tuesday 27 November in the margins of the Méditour 2012 Forum.

    Background

The half-day Conference will discuss how to promote sustainable tourism in the Mediterranean and meet people’s expectations of job creation and economic development.

The tourism industry cannot ignore the environmental concerns (climate change, water scarcity…) facing the Mediterranean region. The event will challenge businesses and governments to address sustainability issues in the tourism sector, presenting case studies and success stories from around the Mediterranean and beyond.

Sector-specific investment priorities as well as financing needs will also be examined. Supply-side shortcomings and options, and the role of banks, funds and real estate investors will be addressed.

    Programme

The Conference will start at 14h00 with the welcome address by Philippe de Fontaine Vive, European Investment Bank Vice-President and Nayef Al Fayez, Jordanian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.

The Conference will end at 18h00 with the closing session, in the presence of Mohamed Choucair, President of ASCAME.
