Eric Perée, Head of EFS joined the EIB in 1989. He manages the overall EFS research programme. His current research interests cover European financial integration, financial and banking management and regulation. He studied economics at the Université de Liège, Université Catholique de Louvain, and European University Institute in Florence. [Top]
Armin Riess, Deputy Head of EFS, joined the EIB in 1991 to work in project appraisal. In 2000, he joined EFS where he coordinates economic analyses of Central and Eastern Europe. He is Editor of the EIB Papers. Before joining the EIB, he was on the staff of the International Monetary Fund and the Department of Economics at the University of Mainz, where he received his doctorate. [Top]
Kristian Uppenberg joined the EIB in 1998. He is chiefly responsible for producing macroeconomic and financial analysis for the EIB's senior management. He has a doctorate in economics from Boston College and has previously worked at the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics and East European Economies and at Standard & Poor's DRI. [Top]
Rien Wagenvoort joined the EIB in 1998. He has a doctorate in economics from the European University Institute in Florence. Recent research includes a study of the efficiency of European banks, an econometric analysis of the capital structure of European Small and Medium Sized Enterprises and development of Value at Risk models for the banking sector. He has published in a wide range of economic journals. [Top]
Timo Välilä joined the EIB in 2003. His primarily focuses is on issues related to international economics and macroeconomic policies. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Gothenburg, and before joining EFS he worked at the IMF both in Washington, DC and in Moscow. [Top]
Atanas Kolev joined the EIB in 2005. He earned his Ph.D. in economics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. His primary field of interest is macroeconomics and recent research has been concentrated on monetary policy, the informal economy, business cycles, inventory investment and financial constraints. Hubert Strauss joined the EIB in 2006. He mainly contributes to the EIB Investment Report and provides analysis on macro-structural and economic policy issues for the EIB's management. He graduated from Freiburg (Germany) and holds a doctorate in economics from Kiel University. Before joining the EIB, he worked at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy and in the Economics Department of the OECD (Paris).
Heather Halahan-Gibson joined the EIB in 1979. She is the Division's Administrative Assistant and is responsible for organising the EIB's Annual Conference on Economics and Finance [Top]
